Crafting is server-authoritative and refreshingly simple: you pick a recipe, you hold the materials, you get the item.
Opening the window
Talk to a craft bench and choose the make option in the dialogue. The window has a category dropdown, a recipe list for the chosen category, and up to four material slots for the selected recipe.
Each bench draws a different part of the catalogue, and the split is by what the item IS - not by who makes it. That changed on 29 August, and it is the opposite of what the window used to do:
| Bench | What it draws |
|---|---|
| The anvil (Bigorna) | Every weapon and off-hand |
| Jacks | Every armour piece, ring and necklace |
| The auxiliary counter in Gaiyan | Food, potions, fishing rods, catalysts, marble cutting and enchant supplies |
⭐ The auxiliary counter is now five people, not one. Erick Jacquin used to hold all seven auxiliary category blocks by himself, so the cook, the chemist, the gem cutter, the woodworker and the enchanter all queued at one NPC and scrolled past each other's work. Four more crafters now stand around him, one per trade, and each shows only its own categories. Walk to the one whose trade you want. A category nobody has claimed is shown at every counter, so nothing can become unreachable.
⭐ A bench is not a trade. A Heavy Chest is at Jacks and is still forged by the Blacksmith; a Bow is at Bigorna and is still shaped by the Woodworker. So "my trade's recipes are missing" is usually "I am at the wrong bench for that kind of item", and the fix is to walk to the other one rather than to worry about your profession.
Recipe ownership did not move: which trade a recipe belongs to is still decided by what it produces, and the server's gate is keyed to the output item, never to the menu it was opened from.
There is more than one of each bench in the world.
Upgrade (Reinforcing) and enchant (Enchanting) are separate systems, on their own NPCs, and are often confused with crafting.
Field crafting opens one bench, chosen by your trade. Ctrl+Shift+C opens a single bench - the Blacksmith and Woodworker get the weapon bench, the Weaver and Jeweler the armour bench, the auxiliary trades their counter. It is one bench, not all of them, so it does not replace the walk when you need the other half of the catalogue. Herbalism, Mining, the Cardist and the Enchanter have no bench of their own and open nothing. The level filter is always on. The craft window lists only the recipe groups your character's level can actually use; the "all levels" row is gone. The filter, its label and the recipe list used to be able to disagree with each other, and a stale choice could follow you from one NPC to the next - both were fixed on 2 September, and each bench open now rebuilds the band from your own level.
The rules that matter
- A craft cannot fail. There is no probability column anywhere in the recipe tables and no roll in the server's craft path. If you have the materials and a free inventory slot, you get exactly one of the output - plus a chance of an extra one if a profession perk gives you bonus yield.
- A recipe consumes up to four different materials, each with its own quantity.
- The craft itself charges no gold. The real cost is buying the reagents from the NPC, which is where the gold sink lives.
- One recipe per output. Two recipes cannot produce the same item, so where you might expect "one recipe, choose your result" you will find separate entries with identical inputs instead.
- You need a free inventory slot before the craft is accepted.
"Risky after +7, buy an item to protect it" is Reinforcing, not crafting. Crafting has never had a failure chance.
Salvage
The dissolve window is the reverse operation: it breaks equipment down by its type, grade and level band into materials.
What it returns changed on 2 September. Dissolving no longer hands back upgrade crystals or time stones. White equipment now has a chance to yield a [marble](/wiki/marbles) matched to its own level instead, which makes salvage a real marble supply rather than a way of farming crystals.
⚠️ Only white equipment can be dissolved
Coloured gear cannot be dismantled at all, and that is deliberate. Magic, Set, Rare and Unique pieces have no dissolve rule behind them, so the window refuses them - about 85% of all equipment in the game. It is not a bug and it is not going to be fixed: dismantling is not meant to compete with the crafting professions as a source of materials.
A refusal now tells you why. "[Error] Disassemble failure." used to read as the feature being broken; it now says plainly that the item cannot be disassembled.
A dissolve that is accepted can still come back empty-handed - the marble is a roll, not a guarantee, so a run of white pieces that yields nothing is bad luck rather than a fault.
Gathering
Three node families are scattered across the world and feed the material economy directly:
- Herbalism - a five-tier ladder from Sprout to Root, where each node gives its own tier for certain, plus a good chance of Mana Herb and a smaller chance of lower-tier sprouts
- Mining - Copper, Steel, Mythril, Cobalt and Titanium, across six seams. Each seam gives its ore for certain, then rolls four gems independently at 10% each - Ruby, Sapphire, Garnet and Opal of that seam's own tier - plus an Upgrade Success Crystal at 5%. The rolls are separate slots, so one gather can return the ore alone, the ore and one gem, or the ore and several
- Fishing - fishing spots stand on the bank on most maps, Gaiyan Town included. A catch always yields a Carp, with a chance of Wet Fabric, Eel and Tuna
There are far fewer fishing spots than there were, and that is deliberate. The placer used to fill every shoreline it could find, so spots piled up in conga lines - 26 on one map, 9 along a single canal. On 3 September the 460 spots became 78: at most four per map, never two within 3,000 units of each other, which is wider than the camera, so you will never see two at once. Maps whose water has no reachable bank keep a couple of in-water spots rather than lose fishing entirely. The Mossy Box no longer turns up in the loot table.
Fishing needs a rod, worn. Without one the cast is now refused before it starts, with a message, instead of running and giving you nothing. With one, a better rod improves the chance of the bonus catch. A cast also takes noticeably longer than a herb or an ore.
Stand right next to the node. The client refuses to start a gather beyond about 300 units, measured flat along the ground - height does not count, so a spot below a ledge you are standing on is fine as long as you are close to it horizontally. If nothing happens when you click, you are too far away.
Gathering takes a few seconds and the server keeps the clock, so interrupting the cast means no drop.
