Mounts - "vehicles" in the game's own vocabulary - are the second companion system, and they share nothing with pets except the idea of a summon item.
Riding
Use the mount's summon item and you mount up; use it again and you dismount. The item is the gate:
- it carries a level requirement
- a small number of items also carry a god requirement. Try to ride one on the wrong side and the game tells you so
- the mounted state persists across sessions
You cannot polymorph while mounted, so a monster card has to wait until you are on foot.
Speed tiers
Mounts come in three speeds, and the difference between them is large:
| Tier | Speed |
|---|---|
| Slow | 90 |
| Standard | 150 |
| Fast | 190 |
Most of the roster sits at the standard tier. The fast tier is genuinely rare.
The roster
There are more than 160 distinct mount models and a much larger number of summon items, because many mounts ship as colour variants of the same model - identical geometry, different texture. A few are event-only versions of an otherwise ordinary mount, marked as such in their name.
