Every character belongs to Olympus, the court of the heavens, or the Titans, the legion of Tartaros. You choose at character creation, and the choice is not cosmetic: it decides who you can attack, which side of every Sacred War you fight on, and which version of certain items you can hold.
What your side actually changes
- Sacred War. Every battlefield is a two- or three-god fight; your faction fixes your arks, your spawn and your enemies.
- Faction-locked gear. Part of the item pool exists twice, once per side: 272 items in 136 matched pairs - costumes, some accessories and ten summon items. Nothing is truly exclusive; every locked item has a counterpart on the other side.
- A few mounts. A small number of summon items check your god before letting you ride. The great majority do not.
- The [Gods of War](/wiki/gods-of-war). Titles are elected per faction, so you compete against your own side rather than the whole server.
Classes, dungeons, crafting, professions, pets and the Colosseum are identical on both sides.
Switching faction in game
Open the Character window, go to the God Info tab, and use the faction-change button at the bottom of that page. A confirmation box appears; accepting sends one request, and the server answers with a real result rather than a silent maybe.
What a switch does
- flips your god and moves your login point back to Gaiyan Town
- swaps your 19 faction skills for the other side's
- rewrites your faction-locked gear into the other side's version - enchants, refine level, seal, remaining time and inventory position all survive, so a costume you were wearing stays worn and simply becomes the other faction's copy
- removes you from your guild, your party and your squad
- stamps a 30-minute cooldown (it was 24 hours until 30 August)
When it is accepted the client returns you to character select so the change takes effect cleanly.
When it is refused
| Refusal | What to do |
|---|---|
| Guild master | Hand the guild over first, then switch |
| Cooldown | Less than 30 minutes since your last switch |
| Already that side | Nothing to do |
| War map | You cannot switch while standing in a Sacred War |
Your god points travel with you. Faction is read live at election time, so switching does not wipe what you have earned - it changes which side you are ranked on.
